Thank you for participating in the 2019 SCRCM Executive Committee Election! The deadline for voting is 5pm, June 10th, 2019. Please read below descriptions of each of the positions in addition to bios of the nominees before voting.

Position Descriptions:
1. Chair-Elect Responsibilities include: (1) Support the Chairperson in chairing the Executive Committee and the SCRCM (2) Act in place of the Chairperson in the event that he/she cannot attend a meeting (3) Step into the position of Chairperson should the situation arise (4) This role will step into the Chair's position after the tenure of the Chair of SCRCM is complete, making way for a new Chair-Elect.

2. Executive Committee Member Responsibilities include: (1) Facilitate the business of the SCRCM as a whole by managing initiatives, organizing SCRCM meetings, and constructing proposals and documents as needed (2) Scheduling and attending, organizing SCRCM meetings (3) Recommending and approving the establishment of work groups and task forces to accomplish SCRCM, Institutional, and PSOM needs and/or goals (4) Solicit and review comments and incorporate them as appropriate into committee business (5) Grant final approval for all initiatives, proposals and documents, among other roles.

Nominee Bios:
Kathleen Thomas, Director of Research Operations, Department of Radiology:
Kathleen has been involved in the field of clinical research for the past 16.5 years and currently holds the role of Director, Research Operations for the Department of Radiology within the Perelman School of Medicine. Kathleen began her career as a Clinical Research Coordinator on a multi-modality breast imaging project and found a true passion for the field and continued to grow professionally. In addition to her role within Radiology, she also serves as a member of the SCRCM executive committee, the Penn IRB and a member of the ECOG-ACRIN DSMB.

Matt Fink, Project Manager, Cardiology Research Unit:
My name is Matthew Fink and I am a Philadelphia and Penn native. I spent 3 years as a research assistant in the Heart Failure team before transitioning to a full time role as a coordinator after graduation. I've recently moved on to become a Project Manager with the Cardiology Research Unit and am helping run Investigator Initiated trials for all Cardiology departments. My time with SCRCM has consisted of managing the website and technology related initiatives and I hope to make an even greater impact as the Chair-Elect.

Joan Gilmore, Associate Director of the Clinical Trials Unit, Center for Cellular Immunotherapies:
I am currently the Associate Director of the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) within the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies. I started out at Penn as a Research Specialist in 1997 but in 2008 transitioned to clinical research as a Clinical Research Coordinator A. I was assigned to coordinate the 1st CAR T-cell trial at Penn---this is the trial which led to the commercially approved t-cell therapy for Leukemia and Lymphoma. In my current role as Associate Director I manage nurses and coordinators in our unit as we continue to coordinate CAR t-cell trials for other indications. I welcome the opportunity to be an advocate for nurse and non-nurse coordinators at Penn.

Alyssa Johncola, Clinical Research Coordinator, Laboratory for Structural, Physiological and Functional Imaging:
My name is Alyssa Johncola and I graduated from Penn in 2015. I have a passion for medicine that I am excited to explore the next few years to figure out the next steps for my career. I love helping others and would especially love to help and assist men and women in research. I promise my hard work ethic in any position.

Kelly Sexton, Clinical Research Coordinator, Department of Radiology:
I've worked in the Department of Radiology for the past 13 years on various NIH funded and pharmaceutical trials as a senior CRC. I started my career with the Neuroradiology division and currently I'm working for the Laboratory for Structural, Physiologic and Functional Imaging. I've also had the pleasure of working at CHOP as NTP on various studies. I enjoy the fast pace and collaborations with other departments / divisions. My absolute greatest achievements are my kiddos Dylan, Logan and Maggie.

Erica Dahlmeier, NCTN Program Manager, Abramson Cancer Center:
I began my clinical research career in Chicago as a coordinator in Neurosurgery where I managed all aspects of phase 1-3 trials. I subsequently transitioned to a research management position in the Cancer Center at a community hospital where I gained experience with National Cancer Institute sponsored trials. After relocating to Philadelphia, I was a Project Manager on acute multi-site NIH trials in Emergency Medicine here at Penn. Most recently I was the clinical research manager at a medical device company managing their research portfolio, including investigator initiated and company sponsored research. I am currently the NCTN Program Manager in the Abramson Cancer Center where I facilitate the conduct of multi-disciplinary NCI funded trials across the Cancer Center.

Abashai (Abby) Woodard, Clinical Research Coordinator, Interventional Radiology:
I started my career at HUP in the film library in radiology March of 2006. I moved on to a more permanent position in Radiology in 2009. I have worked as a Patient Services Representative and the last 6 years I worked in Interventional Radiology as Patient Service Coordinator. Working so closely with the Interventional Radiologist I learned a lot about the different studies that we do here Penn Medicine. So with the help of the doctors in IR, I decided to take some of the knowledge and experience and apply it to assisting them with their research studies. I enjoy working at Penn Medicine, the patients, the doctors and co workers makes this more then just a job. With new transition I plan or graining as much training and education to continue my journey here at Penn Medicine.
